The primary source for this publication is Aäron Messelaar’s book, Forgotten but not Buried, which gives a voice to the Griqua people so that their history can be remembered and passed on to new generations – along with the knowledge that the Griqua still exist, even if not as a homogeneous ethnic group. It is also a message that every indigenous people has a history to be proud of and deserves a rightful place in South Africa’s history.
