Dana Snyman shares in Seun the part of his story he has never spoken about: his experiences in the 1980s. It was the time of PW Botha’s finger, the Voëlvry tour, AWB rallies, negotiations, and the final days of conscription. Dana is dishonourably discharged from the army, but first, he stops in Hall 24. Unemployed and aimless, he ends up in a former servant’s quarters in Pretoria. This raw, self-revealing memoir asks: how does a boy become a man? In Seun, Dana takes readers into his confidence.

Dana Snyman was born in Stellenbosch. Before becoming a journalist, he worked as a security guard, switchboard operator, and bookstore clerk. He writes for Beeld, Weg!, Huisgenoot and Die Kerkbode. His books, columns, and stage plays are full of empathy and keen observations. His first TV series, Op pad met Dana, has had several seasons. He has more than 68,000 followers on Facebook.
