This documentary is a journey with photojournalist Willem van der Berg, who searches for a lost fence-strainer from the Hardemanskaroo, Hans Jors. Willem had a longstanding and close connection with Hans, but now there is no sign of him, and the farmer for whom he fenced in an entire Karoo kingdom refuses to say anything. With the unravelling of the mystery surrounding Hans, the sharp divides in an unforgiving landscape and a divided community become visible. It is a story about people born on the wrong side of the fence – the side where you can only go quiet. Disappear. And no one can do anything about it.
