Displacement challenges us to rethink community, identity, and belonging. Richly illustrated and grounded in decades of research, it goes beyond the study of human displacement – it is a call to action. Louw explores the physical and emotional spaces we inhabit, from Cape Coast’s grassroots spirituality to the digital landscapes of the metaverse, offering insights into our universal longing for connection.

In a world fractured by dislocation, he presents a vision of healing and coexistence, urging us to embrace spirituality as a bridge to dignity and peace. He interdisciplinary approach highlights the vital role of faith communities in fostering resilience and meaning amid injustice and loss.

Through powerful metaphors, including the African concept of ubuntu (“I am because you are”), Louw invites readers to rediscover one another in shared spaces of transformation and communal healing.

Dean: Faculty of Theology; University of Stellenbosch: 2001-2005.

His special fields of interest and research: pastoral care and counselling; pastoral anthropology and human dignity; hospital care; marriage and family enrichment; theodicy; theopaschitic theology and the human quest for meaning in suffering.
