Chrome oxide, Green iron Oxide and Gold glaze on sandcast terracotta.
This is a show representing the perseverance for meaning, in the personal lives of two artists, Ludwe Mgolombane and Sylvester Zanoxolo Mqeku. The two met and became lifelong friends in 2009 whilst studying at the now NMU in Gqebherha, the former School of Music, Art and Design. Theirs is a journey that began after joining this institution and eventually the Ceramics department. Collectively, this is a story of partnership and solidarity in the understanding that clay is a medium to call upon only those who will pick trees that require centuries of constant tending, a path that is always unfolding, a long walk that never ends. Together, they communicate the stories of their journeys through the most revealing and natural qualities of clay.
